What Google Did Not Tell You
While you do your daily searching in Google are you sure you do your best to get the exact result you need from your search? what if you check those tips and see if anything new for you that might help you get closer to the results you need?
I’m feeling lucky.
The first thing you need to know is that when you are searching Google if you click “i’m feeling lucky” instead of “search” you will jump directly to the first site that is in the results page and this site has mostly what you are searching for.
Spelling/capitalization.
When searching Google don’t worry about spelling or capitalization because google will automatically correct your spelling or suggest the right spelling so you get the right results.
Searching for more than a word-when you search for blue small cars you will see results containing either the whole phrase or any of the words blue/small/cars.Either OR.
In the above search we got results that contain all the keywords but what if we need pages that have those keywords separated and discard pages that have all the keywords gathered?
In this situation we will do this search query “blue cars OR small cars”.
Getting the exact phrase.
Now if you need to get the pages that has the exact full phrase you need to put the phrase between quotation marks and your search will be “blue small cars” instead.
Auto Complete.
Google can complete the word for you to any word starts with the word you wrote
if you write *lines you will get results for any words ending with (lines).
or if you write lines* you will get results for words starting with (lines)
Include/Exclude
To include or exclude a word from your search use + to include and - to exclude.
If you are searching for a word that has different uses like “air conditioner” you might get results for hair conditioner so you exclude results with “hair” by making the search air conditioner -hair
or else use the previously illustrated technique for exact phrases “air conditioner”
You see that there are several methods to get better search results but that wasn’t all about it, Part 2 is here:
